French composer born in Biarritz in 1898, and died in Paris in 1999, Maurice Journeau was a student of Max d'Ollone and Nadia Boulanger at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. Never working as a professional composer, his works remain unknown until 1992, when professional musicians discovered surprisingly some of his works.

His catalogue includes about 80 scores, orchestral, vocal, instrumental as well as chamber music, subject of this album.
